Historic Venue & Stately Home Wedding Photography
Timeless imagery for modern romantics, in some of Britain's most extraordinary settings.
Extraordinary Places. Individual Stories.
Some places have a presence that's impossible to recreate.
From the remarkable surroundings of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle to the grandeur of York Minster, I've been fortunate to photograph weddings in some truly extraordinary settings.
Historic houses, country estates and centuries-old buildings have a character of their own. Their architecture, history and atmosphere become part of the wedding, giving the photographs a wonderful sense of place.
But however impressive the surroundings, the most important part of any wedding remains the people.
My approach is to bring those two elements together: thoughtfully composed photographs that celebrate the setting, alongside the natural, unrepeatable moments that make the day entirely yours.
Historic Houses & Private Estates
There's something particularly special about weddings held in historic houses and private estates.
From the elegance of grand country houses to the quieter intimacy of centuries-old family homes, these venues offer an extraordinary combination of architecture, character and atmosphere.
I've been fortunate to photograph weddings at some beautiful estates throughout the UK, including Middleton Lodge, Howsham Hall, Norton Conyers, Weston Park and Homme House. More recently, I've also had the pleasure of photographing two weddings at Egton Manor, tucked away in the North York Moors.
Each setting has its own personality, and I love finding ways to reflect that individuality in the photographs, without ever losing sight of the people and moments that make each wedding unique.
A Sense of History
There's something quite extraordinary about photographing a wedding in a building that has witnessed centuries of history.
From the remarkable surroundings of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle to the soaring Gothic architecture of York Minster, I've been fortunate to photograph weddings in some of Britain's most significant historic buildings.
Each presents its own unique atmosphere, traditions and considerations.
Photographing Clemmie and James's wedding at Windsor Castle was a particularly special experience, requiring careful preparation and an understanding of the restrictions surrounding such an extraordinary location.
Having also photographed weddings at Bath Abbey, Beverley Minster and Ampleforth Abbey, I've come to appreciate the importance of working quietly and instinctively, respecting both the occasion and the surroundings.
For me, it's about capturing the significance of these remarkable settings without ever losing sight of the personal moments unfolding within them.
Beyond the Setting
As much as I love the beauty and character of these extraordinary places, it's always the people who make a wedding memorable.
After more than 17 years photographing weddings, I've learned when to offer a little direction and when to simply step back and observe.
Some of my favourite photographs are those that happen entirely naturally. The anticipation before a ceremony, an unexpected moment of laughter, or the conversations and celebrations unfolding around the edges of the day.
My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive, allowing you to enjoy your wedding without feeling that you're constantly being photographed.
The result is a collection of images that feels considered without being contrived, capturing not just how everything looked, but what the day actually felt like.
“You’ve completely captured the day – its atmosphere, essence and, most importantly, the people – in the most beautiful way.”
