What is your approach to photographing our day?

I bring together natural storytelling and an editorial eye. I’m looking for the genuine moments, the atmosphere and the people you love, alongside beautifully composed portraits. I’ll offer gentle direction when it helps, without making your wedding feel like a photoshoot.

Where are you based, and do you travel?

I’m based in Scalby, just outside Scarborough in North Yorkshire, and photograph weddings across the UK and overseas. Wherever you’re celebrating, I’d love to hear about your plans.

Have you photographed weddings at our venue?

My work has taken me to settings including St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, York Minster, Middleton Lodge, Grantley Hall and St Giles House. I also love discovering somewhere new. Familiarity can be helpful, but careful preparation, an understanding of light and an eye for the moments unfolding matter wherever your wedding takes place.

Will you photograph our wedding personally?

Yes - when you book me to photograph your wedding, I’ll be the photographer joining you on the day.

If I’m unavailable, I may be able to offer a Collaboration Collection with an associate photographer. That would be discussed clearly with you before booking, so you know exactly who will be photographing your celebration.

How do we enquire and book?

Send me your wedding date, venue and a little about your plans through the enquiry form. I’ll let you know my availability and send you the Collections. We can then arrange a conversation if you’d like to talk things through before deciding.

How do we secure our wedding date?

Once you’ve decided you’d like to book, I’ll send you an online booking form with the full booking information and payment details.

Your date is secured once the booking form has been signed and the deposit has been paid. The deposit is due at the time of booking, and I’ll confirm everything with you in writing once both have been received.

When are payments due?

The deposit is payable when you book, with the remaining balance due six weeks before your wedding date.

Your payment schedule and deadlines are set out clearly in your booking information.

Can we talk through our plans before the wedding?

Absolutely. I have an open-door approach, so you’re welcome to get in touch as your plans take shape, whether that’s by email, WhatsApp, phone or Zoom. Before the day, we’ll talk through the timings, the people who matter to you and any photographs you particularly want to make time for.

How much of the day do you cover?

There are different Collections to suit the shape of your celebration. We’ll talk through your timings and priorities so you can choose the coverage that feels right, with the agreed hours clearly set out before you book.

Do we need a second photographer?

Not necessarily. I regularly photograph weddings on my own, and I’m happy to help you decide what makes sense for your day. A second photographer can be useful when preparations are happening in different places, for larger celebrations, or when you’d particularly value another perspective on the moments unfolding.

We’re not used to being photographed. Will you help?

Of course. You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose. I’ll give you simple, gentle guidance when it’s useful, leaving room for you to move, talk, be yourselves and, most important, have fun! The aim is for the photographs to feel like you, not like a performance.

Do you photograph family groups?

Absolutely. Those photographs matter, and we’ll plan them together beforehand. A short, thoughtful list helps everything run smoothly and leaves you more time with your guests. I’ll keep the process relaxed while making sure the important combinations are covered. Around six to eight groups is often a recommended starting point, and we can adapt that to your families.

Can we change our Collection or add a second photographer?

You’re welcome to get in touch as your plans develop. I’ll talk you through the options and any change in price. Additional coverage and second photographers are subject to availability, so it’s helpful to discuss them in good time.

Is aerial photography included?

Where your Collection includes aerial photography, it is always subject to suitable weather, permissions and safe operating conditions. It can be a beautiful way to show the setting, but it cannot be guaranteed at every wedding or location.

How many photographs will we receive?

You’ll receive a carefully selected, individually edited collection that tells the story of your day. The number varies with your coverage and the celebration itself; the guidance for your chosen Collection will be set out before you book.

When will we see our photographs?

Your preview and full-gallery timings will be confirmed with your chosen Collection. I personally select and edit the finished photographs, bringing them together into a cohesive record of your day.

Your complete wedding Collection will usually be delivered within approximately 4-8 weeks, depending on the time of year and the number of weddings being edited. Each image is individually selected and thoughtfully finished before being uploaded to your private online gallery.

How will we receive the finished gallery?

Your photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery, where you can view, download and share them with family and friends. You can also explore a range of printed products through the gallery.

Can we print and share our photographs?

Yes. Your finished photographs are there to be enjoyed, shared with the people you love and printed for your home, in line with the personal-use licence included with your booking. I’m happy to help if you’d like advice about printing.

Are you insured, and how do you look after the photographs?

Yes. Neil Jackson Photographic holds appropriate business insurance, including public liability cover.

Your photographs are captured using professional camera equipment with backup equipment available, and are securely backed up throughout the editing process. I maintain multiple copies of your images to help protect them against technical failure or data loss.

How long should we keep our downloads?

Please download your finished photographs and keep your own copies in more than one place. Your gallery access and file-retention terms will be set out in your booking information. If you need help accessing a past gallery, get in touch and I’ll check what is available. Your Collection includes the finished, edited photographs; unedited RAW files are not supplied.

More to ask?

If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please get in touch. I’m always happy to answer questions, talk through your plans and help you decide whether we’d be a good fit.
