Originally built in the 11th century, Durham Castle was my first ever taste of a wedding at a castle. Let's just say I now love castle weddings! Hopefully the pictures speak for themselves, the venue is epic in every way.

A Norman castle, built as 'a projection of the Norman king's power in the north of England, as the population of England in the north remained "wild and fickle"!' The grounds and interiors are as you would expect from a castle of this size and grandeur; the jewel in the crown, so to speak, definitely being the Great Hall. The hall was the largest in Britain when built and is 30m long and 14m high. Few wedding reception rooms can get close to that!
