documentary wedding photographer
Being a documentary wedding photographer means that I want to tell the real and true story of your day, through my eyes, as your photographer. As well as documentary wedding photography, sometimes this approach can also be called reportage wedding photography, or wedding photojournalism etc but it all means the same thing - being committed to telling your story, in a completely natural and authentic way.
I like to think that the images you've seen on my website stand out from the crowd a little and are maybe different to those you may have seen on a 'traditional wedding photographer's' website.
You may ask, does this mean that you don't photograph any posed family group photos on the day, or any of those special details that we've spent so many late nights creating? The answer is, of course I do all of those things too! They are all part of the story of your day and are very important to the overall narrative. I just won't be making you and your guests strike cheesy poses all day long, or try to contrive any moments unnaturally. One of the best compliments I can get from my wedding couples is, "we didn't even notice you were there." - what a documentary wedding photographer is all about!
